rgurganus on "Old Version Warning"

I periodically get the "version is too old" warning. That's fine. I'm not complaining that there are updates to be made. But I am complaining that this halts the sync from processing. I have this running unattended to backup files from a server, and sometimes I leave it for a few days without checking on it, and then realize it hasn't been backed up for a few days because it stopped at this version error. If at all possible, change it so that it can continue processing along side of the version message. Thank you.

Purchased syncdocs on june 30. It was working as expected.
This morning, AVG reported it found IDP.ALEXA.51 in syncdocs.exe ( C:\Users\marcelo\AppData\Local\Programs\Syncdocs\Syncdocs.exe ) and moved it to the vault.
Could someone explain what is going?
TIA

PS: AVG can restore the file, and even I have the original .msi, but I are not sure what to do.

filipemeiracastro on "error messages popup"

Hi,

Thanks for one more update.

I have been noticing (with all versions) the following popup:
"Syncdocs error, sync paused. Main Error, A task was canceled"

This happens every now and then, after a few hours of use. It seems to be working ok most of the times and work after I click OK or restar the app, so it is just annoying to have the popup.

Can you implement an option to remove these pop-up and keep trying for some time?

If it's on the app start, ok, something wrong and the user can try to check it. But, if the app has launched, synced a few times, and after a few hours of running something goes wrong, then don't be so trigger happy on asking user action!

Just put the icon grey and keep trying, maybe try one time, then after 1 minute again, then 5 minutes, then 10, then 20 then 40, then 80 and so on.. then just give the popup message after a user defined time on the settings page (for me would be like 4h or even 8h!)

Thanks, and keep up improving the app :)

The biggest problem I've had setting up Syncdocs (and working with Windows file system) is handling the error that occurs when a file path is to long. When Syncdocs scans either the local drive or the Google Drive and finds path names that are too long, it would be great if it could produce a report with links to the offending files and an indication of how much shorter the path name would have to be in order to sync correctly. I had to do this manually by scanning through the error report.

Hi,

I am looking for a way to allow me to upload files from two different computers to two different folders in the same GDrive account.

I am aware how to select local folders for upload but I cant find an option to allow me to specify a specific folder to upload all my local files to.

Is it possible to sync my local folders to a a specific, specified folder on GDrive rather than the root Gdrive location?

I'm using Syncdocs at home and at work. When at work I'm unable to make it sync to Google. With both native system authentication and explicit proxy configuration I always get the following error: 407

I've also tried to remove the "domain\" part but without success.

marcelo-n on "Left and Right confusion"

Some days ago I asked about Syncdocs confusing (badly) what to copy from and to.
In fact, it was showing my Drive repository (at left) with some outdated files, and my local with updated ones at right.
But the sync "direction" it proposed to me was, in all cases, from the outdates files over the newer ones.
What is happening?
TIA

I would like more information to see if your product can help me. I currently do this:

1) have customers fill a jotform that submits data to a gsheet on a google drive

2) i have to manually export it as a csv or xlsx

3) i then sync that sheet to shippingeasy or endicia to process their shipping labels

Ideally, i would like to have the gsheet autosync to a spreadsheet on my google drive so when i fire up endicia, i can quickly load the data.

skribb on "Syncdocs using 25% cpu several times per day"

Several times during a day I see that Syncdocs is using 25% cpu. This isn't that bad in it self, but it is pretty high.

the worst problem is that during this cpu spike, Other disk activites are slowed down.

I also find it strange that Syncdocs has to work so often seeing as i only update files on my Google Drive once or twice per day.

I add new files to my local Gdrive once per day. And I add files to my cloud Gdrive 1-2 per day.
should this really warrant a 25% cpu hog by Syncdocs, that happen about 5 times per day (and, most importantly, these spikes happen when I'm not doing anything on Gdrive - neither changing local files nor remote cloud files).

This computer is definitely up to par performance wise, and I bought it a few weeks ago.

thanksf or any help ! :D

Hi,
sometimes files from GD are not downloaded. Currently there is a file on GD which I edited yesterday on one PC and I need it now on a second PC. I have a three days old version on that second PC. Usually this works alright. But now, after one normal and several forced syncs, I still have the old file locally and the new one on GD.
SyncDocs has an option to force uploads (which doesn't seem to work either, because I cannot upload the old file). But is there a way to force download a file?
Thanks!

Sambodh on "Syncdocs asking for re-authorization"

Hi,

Some of our Syncdocs clients are getting the following message:

Your Google Syncdocs authentication has expired, please re-authorize Syncdocs on Google after clicking OK

I've clicked on OK and got the standard Google screen and clicked on their Allow button, but that doesn't seem to work in the last case I tried this morning, i.e the Re-authenticate button on the Account tab doesn't grey out.

Why is this message coming up on only a few of our many Syncdocs clients? Has Google changed their security just recently?

I've done the alternative procedure Google offer, where you get two URL's and eventually paste in the Google token, on two other customers and it worked, but I was not offered the other way today ...

Help! If this is going to happen on all our current users of Syncdocs, I am in for a load of work!

I'm using the portable version on my company's pc because I'm not able to install anything on it. I have full access to my own files on my own network folder. Synching works generally well.
I have checked the checkbox in preferences to also synch deletions etc.

However, I tried deleting files and folders, but they do not synch properly. They keep reappearing, as well as when I move a folder to another folder the old folder reappears. The moved folder synchs well.

What can I do to have syncdocs sync properly?

Hi,

I am using the latest version and, every now and then, when I start syncdocs I get the message with title "Syncdocs Version getting Old" and followed by some text and "(this dialog will close in 1 minute and Syncdocs will resume".

At the end of this message you can see the log file!

Back in the time, got advise from you to delete wyUpdate.exe to avoid automatic updates (I use portable version and syncdocs was updating itself even when I was choosing not to update). I guess this has been fine until now, but, looking to the logfile, maybe this is the reason of the error. Is this something you could be so kind and fix on your next version?

Have a great day and thank you for keeping the app awesome :)
